Electronics Manufacturing

We have five self-contained factories for the manufacture of electronic assemblies located at our global headquarters in Derby, United Kingdom.

“At Pektron we have never been afraid to invest in manufacturing technology to keep abreast of the latest developments in electronic components and processes.  As a result we have one of the most up to date manufacturing facilities in Europe.

Lean is a way of life for Pektron. We know that we have the fundamentals in place to ensure that Continuous Improvement will lead to further enhancements to our performance which brings real benefits to our customers and ourselves.”

Ian Harpham, Manufacturing Director

In order to convert our innovative designs and engineering developments into mass production electronics, we are committed to continual investment in our manufacturing capabilities.

These facilities operate to the same meticulous standards to ensure consistently high levels of product quality for all our customers, delivered on time and in compliance with TS16949 and ISO9001.

Our production staff are highly passionate about what they do and are involved from day one in taking waste out of the system, using lean thinking with its associated tools, Kaizen, quick changeover (SMED), 5S etc.  These principles are fundamental to what we do.  Our mind-set is ‘there is nothing that cannot be improved’.

In support of our production activities we have an ‘in-house’ training Academy where our IPC-610-D qualified trainers regularly deliver new and refresher courses to all production staff to ensure that skills and levels of workmanship are kept up to date.

Facilities

We have just completed a comprehensive upgrade of our seven SMT lines with the latest Hitachi Sigma placement machines.  This upgrade has given us the facility to place up to a combined total of over 1,000,000 surface mount components per hour, as well as the ability to provide full component traceability if required.

All of our SMT lines have Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) checking 100% of the products produced.  This ensures that every PCB is assembled and soldered to IPC-610-D and also provides immediate warning of any developing process issues.

Electrical testing is also carried on 100% of production.  Using the latest Series 5 ‘Agilent’ In Circuit Test machines to compliment our ‘in-house’ built functional test equipment, this ensures our finished products always comply with the product specification.

We don’t just stop at building and testing PCBs.  We have extensive experience assembling our PCBs into finished products.  These vary from the simplest in ‘board in a box’ up to complex life supporting equipment.  We are experts in resin encapsulation and conformal coating and have our own ‘Class 6’ clean room for the assembly of instrument cluster products for the automotive, agricultural and off-highway markets. In addition, we can offer full harness manufacturing and coil winding facilities.
