Pektron wins Queen’s Award for International Trade
Pektron are thrilled to have been awarded the Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2017, particularly in this historic year as HM The Queen celebrates the sapphire anniversary of her reign.
Pektron is a privately owned UK electronics designer and manufacturer with over 50 years experience delivering bespoke electronics hardware and software solutions to blue-chip companies around the world. To achieve international sales growth of 250% over the last ten years demonstrates the company’s constant drive for success, expanding both its UK and overseas markets. Most recently Pektron has developed electronic systems for the new Ford GT, including a ground-breaking electronic instrument cluster and the Vehicle Dynamics System that controls a range of different driving modes.
Pektron’s experience and expertise in designing innovative electronics enables development in a fraction of the time of more traditional suppliers (less than 18 months in the case of the Ford GT), and a responsive approach coupled with significantly lower costs appeals to customers operating in competitive markets.
In particular, Pektron’s experience in vehicle electronics has resulted in them winning a number of large contracts in North America, in areas such as construction and agricultural machinery, electric vehicles and even autonomous vehicles. Pektron has seen phenomenal growth over the past 10 years with business in the US alone growing from virtually zero to over $40million. This has been supported by a major investment in people both here in the UK and also a substantial team based out of Detroit, Michigan.
John Potts, Sales Director at Pektron explains:
“Our success at winning business in the US is great news for the UK – we have sold electronics systems to high technology start-ups as well as established brands reliant on us to support their global operations. This is a massive achievement in a very competitive, technology-led sector. We have been able to fight off fierce competition from the Far East and we are not aware of any other UK electronics manufacturers who have done the same in our market. Our brand is recognised as being synonymous with exceptionally high quality.”
Queen’s Award winners are chosen by a panel that includes the Prime Minister and leading figures from government and industry, making it one of the most sought after accolades for British businesses.
Neil Morgan, Managing Director at Pektron said:
“We have consistently grown and invested in our business for over 50 years. To receive an award such as this demonstrates how our strategy for long term growth continues to be the right approach for Pektron, and gives us further encouragement as we continue our journey designing and manufacturing innovative electronics for our customers”.
