First Class Facilities and Staff

Our facilities operate to the same meticulous standards to ensure consistently high levels of product quality for all our customers, delivered on time and in compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.

We don’t stop at building and testing PCBs. We have extensive experience assembling PCBs into higher level assembly (HLA): From the simplest ‘board in a box’ (BTP), to assessing design for manufacture (DFM) best practice up to complex life supporting equipment with vital sensors, challenging audio, dedicated displays, and software-enabled lighting (Bespoke).

Surface Mount Technology

Our Derby, UK-based campus boasts the largest installation of the Yamaha YRM20 Surface Mount Technology in Europe, the first in UK. Our eight world-class, comprehensive SMT lines have the latest technology for improved accuracy +/- 0.25 µm . We have the ability to place up to a combined total of over 2,000,000 surface mount components per hour with full component traceability.

To check 100% of the products produced, all of our SMT lines have:

  • 3D Automatic Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)
  • Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI)

This ensures that every PCB is assembled and soldered to IPC-610-J for 'right-first-time' process optimisation. We can handle a wide range of components, for example 0.2 x 0.1mm up to 55 x 100 x 30mm, as well as LEDs.

Pektron People

Our facilities would be nothing without our people. At the heart of our business is a highly experienced and well-established team of engineers. World-class, multifaceted skill sets in electronics, mechanical, hardware, and software design allow us to provide unrivalled innovation to our customers.

Our production staff are passionate about what they do and are involved from day one using lean thinking with its associated tools, Kaizen, quick changeover (SMED), 5S etc to reduce and eliminate waste from the system. These principles are fundamental to what we do.  Our mind-set is ‘there is nothing that cannot be improved’.

Our experienced production engineering team can configure production lines to run to the most exacting of requirements, including undertaking prototyping on production lines for maximum benefit.

In support of our production activities, we have an in-house Training School where our IPC-610-J qualified trainers regularly deliver new and refresher courses to all production staff to ensure that skills and levels of workmanship are kept up to date. The significant core competencies and talents of our people are combined to create highly flexible and talented project teams.

Our software engineers are experienced in the software design lifecycle – from requirement definition through to design, implementation, verification and validation. Using flexible teams and agile development guarantees that the best possible software is created and evolving requirements are accommodated.

By forming close working partnerships with customers and suppliers, we are able to use our considerable experience of multiple market sectors to help Pektron customers overcome challenges. Our ability to take an initial design brief, optimise it, and turn it into reality using our in-house capabilities provides our customers with significant benefits in terms of reduced cost and shortened project timescales.

High Level Assembly

We are experts in ultrasonic and laser welding, resin encapsulation, and conformal coating and have our own Class 6 clean room to ISO 14644-1 for the assembly of sensitive electronics, including instrument cluster products for the automotive, agricultural and off-highway markets.

In Circuit Testing

Electrical testing is also carried on 100% of production. Using the Keysight In Circuit Test (ICT) machines to complement our in-house built functional test equipment, this ensures our finished products always comply with the product specification.

Infineon Preferred Design House

Pektron's recognition as an Infineon Preferred Design House (PDH) Partner is a significant achievement that highlights over three decades of successful collaboration and deep technical expertise in semiconductor integration. Our skilled electronics engineers provide unrivalled expertise in customising Infineon’s AURIX™ and TRAVEO™ microcontroller families.
