Derby Ram Trail Launches – perfect opportunity for a ramble round Derby!

The Derby Ram Trail has gone live… last night a flock of fabulously colourful and unique rams appeared around the city as Derby’s free art discovery trail was launched.

The trail is being produced by Derby Museums and aims to encourage people to explore Derby from a new perspective.  The ram sculpture is based on the mythical Derby Ram from the 18th Century song, which according to legend was ten yards high with enormous horns and a huge flowing fleece. The story tells how people from all over came to see the huge Derby Ram, and we are excited that people will once again flock to Derby.

Each Ram has a different story to tell in terms of its location, sponsor and creative artwork and there are lots of topics to engage people, from health and the environment, to history and culture.

At Pektron we are really proud to support this initiative and our Ram – number 9 on the trail – can be found just outside Derby’s newest museum – the Museum of Making – situated at Derby’s Silk Mill.  Following an £18m refurbishment, the museum celebrates Derby’s 300-year history of making, at the same time inspiring new creativity and innovation with open-access facilities for members of the public to use, including workshops with laser cutters, CNC milling machines and much more.

As a Derby-based business developing and manufacturing electronics that can face anything from the new technical challenges in developing electric vehicles, to the quality demands required of the Safety sector, Pektron are excited to be involved in Derby’s latest creative initiative and hope that those of you reading who are local to Derby will enjoy exploring the trail.
