Premium Quality Equipment and Services

At Pektron, we believe that sourcing plastic components should be straightforward, reliable, and low risk. We manage complexity so our customers don’t have to - delivering high-quality components, on time and at the right cost, through a single, trusted partner. Pektron's plastics capability has evolved into a sophisticated injection moulding operation, supporting customers from design-for-manufacture and tool development through to production, assembly and finishing services. Combined with our electronics expertise, this enables us to deliver fully integrated solutions from a single manufacturing partner.

2026 marks 10 years of plastics injection moulding at Pektron. During this time, our Derby-based facility has doubled in size and capability, driven by a clear objective: to deliver better quality, faster turnaround times, and greater control for our customers. Today, our site houses state-of-the-art ENGEL machines, supported by advanced material handling systems from Summit Systems and operated by a highly experienced team of moulding engineers.

Pektron offers a comprehensive range of injection moulding services designed to meet diverse industry needs:

  • Low to ultra-high volume production
  • A-surface aesthetic components to ultra-robust enclosures
  • Thermoplastic processing across a wide material spectrum

Pektron produces complex, high-quality plastic components using advanced injection moulding systems and a wide range of engineering polymers. Our process includes full tool validation and controlled moulding to ensure consistent results. We specialise in vertical injection for direct over-moulding of heavily populated PCB assemblies with polymers as well as metal inserts, working closely with clients to optimise part and tool design. With broad materials expertise, we help select the best polymer for your application. To streamline your supply chain, we offer value-added services such as ultrasonic welding, laser welding, laser etching, heat staking, tampo printing, and optical coatings, delivered in-house or through trusted partners. This combination of technology and expertise allows us to compete confidently on a global stage while delivering the benefits of UK manufacturing.

Advanced Capability, Broad Application

Pektron’s injection moulding facility is designed to handle a wide range of technical requirements and unusual materials. With clamping forces ranging from 10 to 300 tonnes and component weights from 0.2g to 500g, we can support both small, intricate parts and larger, more robust components.

We specialise in high-quality plastic enclosures, from aesthetically demanding products such as key fobs and instrument clusters to highly durable, IP6K9K-rated sealed enclosures for harsh environments, including off-highway, fire safety, and military applications. Our capabilities extend to vertical injection and over-moulding and a variety of post-moulding processes such as tampo printing. For vehicle lighting requirements, we also handle optical moulding, when highly advanced processes are needed for clear plastic which is under the strictest of quality controls.

Material performance is equally critical, particularly with unusual materials such as PPSU, PEI, Statcon (carbon and glass filled). Our facility includes advanced drying systems capable of processing engineering polymers at temperatures up to 180°C, ensuring optimal material preparation for high-spec applications. All machines are supplied via Vismec drying equipment and are fitted with Movacolor dosing units.

Design & Development – Parts and Tools

Our experienced engineering team supports customers from initial concept through to production, ensuring components are optimised for manufacturability, quality and cost-effectiveness.

Moldex3D Simulation Software
Using advanced mould flow analysis, we can simulate the injection moulding process before tooling is manufactured. This enables us to predict and address potential issues such as warpage, sink marks, weld lines and filling challenges early in the design phase. By validating designs virtually, we help reduce development risk, minimise tooling modifications and accelerate time to market.

Design for Manufacture (DFM)
Our engineers work closely with customers to optimise component and tool designs for efficient production. By considering material selection, mouldability, assembly requirements and performance criteria from the outset, we help improve product quality while reducing overall project costs.

In-House 3D Printing
Rapid prototyping capabilities allow us to produce physical models and development parts quickly, enabling faster design evaluation, fit and function assessments, and stakeholder reviews. This supports a more agile development process and helps identify potential improvements before tooling investment is made.

Nikon X-Ray Inspection
Our Nikon X-Ray inspection system provides a non-destructive method of analysing moulded and assembled components. This allows us to inspect internal features that are not visible externally, identify defects, verify assembly integrity and support root-cause investigations without damaging the product. The result is improved quality assurance, faster problem resolution and greater confidence in product performance.

Metrology Lab

Our dedicated metrology team provides precise measurement, validation and reporting services to ensure every component meets specification. Using advanced CMM technology, including optical, tactile and laser scanning systems, we support customers through PPAP, PSW, FAI and ISIR requirements while delivering complete traceability from material receipt to finished product. Measurement data is used not only to validate new parts but also to establish robust in-process controls that ensure consistent quality throughout production. Our advanced on-site measurement equipment give us and our customers optimal process control with both contact and non-contact measuring and includes the following machines:

Baty Venture Plus CMM for:

  • Optical and touch-probe measurement system
  • Ideal for detailed inspection of small and complex moulded components

LK Altera CMM for:

  • Probe and laser scanning technology
  • Fast, accurate measurement of complex surfaces and larger components

Quality at Every Stage

Quality underpins everything we do at Pektron. From design and development through to production, validation and distribution, every stage of the manufacturing process is controlled, monitored and continuously improved to ensure consistent results. We work with customers to verify product performance and manufacturing readiness before full-scale production begins. Where required, testing is supported by Pektron's onsite test facility, providing independent verification and accelerated project delivery.

Our Quality Management Systems are certified to IATF 16949, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, demonstrating our commitment to quality, operational excellence and environmental responsibility. These internationally recognised standards provide customers with confidence that their products are manufactured to the highest levels of control and traceability.

Process Control & Continuous Improvement

Our manufacturing operations are supported by strict process control methods, allowing critical process parameters and product characteristics to be monitored in real time. This data-driven approach helps identify trends early, maintain process capability and ensure consistent product quality throughout the production lifecycle.

Reshoring Doesn’t Have to Cost the Earth

In today’s manufacturing environment, supply chain resilience is more important than ever. Pektron offers a compelling alternative to traditional offshore sourcing by combining UK-based production with globally competitive pricing.

Reshoring to the UK doesn’t have to mean higher costs—it can mean better quality, faster delivery, and reduced risk. By reducing lead times, improving communication, and eliminating the risks associated with long, complex supply chains, Pektron delivers both commercial and operational benefits.

Our robust global sourcing network ensures access to a wide range of materials, from standard plastics to high-performance polymers. Every material we use is fully traceable and sourced from reputable suppliers, providing complete confidence in quality and compliance.
