Pektron sponsors Ford GT launch at Society of Automotive Engineers

Pektron was delighted to be one of the sponsors at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Detroit section event on 5th April 2017, at the Cobo Centre in Detroit, Michigan. The event was organised to celebrate the launch of the iconic American supercar – the Ford GT.

Through a strategic mechatronics alliance with MultiMatic, and close collaboration with the Ford GT Performance team, Pektron delivered cutting edge automotive electronics in less than 18 months. Pektron’s experience and expertise in designing and developing innovative electronics provides OEM’s product delivery in a fraction of the time when compared with more traditional automotive suppliers.

Pektron delivered the electronic design, development, implementation as well as manufactured the following products for the Ford GT.

1. Full Digital Instrument Cluster

a. The Ford GT Cluster has received great reviews from professional automotive journalist like MotorTrend

2. Vehicle Dynamics Module

3. Electronic Latch Controller

4. Electronic Damper Controllers

In developing the Digital Instrument Cluster, Ford highlighted the importance of “getting every pixel perfect”, and in doing so looked to select the best suppliers around the world to help them deliver the best result.

A representative from Ford said:

“As advanced design work transitioned to putting prototypes on the road, Ford Performance reached out to suppliers at the cutting edge of data display. Ford designers worked closely with Pektron (for electronic design, development, implementation and manufacture)…”

Like the glass cockpit in airplanes and race cars, the all-new Ford GT features an all-digital instrument display in the car’s dashboard that quickly and easily presents information to the driver, based on five special driving modes.

John Potts, Main Board Director, explained:

“Working on the worlds most advanced automotive electronics applications, as we have with the Ford GT, is what Pektron loves to do. High profile projects with global brands demand that we exploit the very latest technology. We often have to meet very aggressive timescales, provide the best of engineering support, and work with the customer to achieve the best possible product, and they don’t come much bigger and better than the Ford GT! Our approach to new challenges has made teaming up with MultiMatic and Ford a rewarding and exciting experience. Pektron will always be proud to have played a critical role in the delivery of an American icon, the new Ford GT.”
