Brief Description
Technical Maintenance Engineer (Automated Electronics Assembly),
Due to further expansion of our electronics manufacturing operations in Derby, Pektron Group Ltd have a vacancy for a multi-skilled Preventative Maintenance Engineer to join our team of engineers primarily looking after our ‘state of the art’ fully automated electronic component placement lines and other associated production equipment.
Role Overview:
After comprehensive training with the equipment manufacturers, the successful candidate will work within our multi-disciplinary Engineering Maintenance department primarily responsible for the performance and maintenance of our eight fully automated high speed electronics production lines (Surface Mount Technology (SMT). They will have the opportunity to be innovative and work within a dynamic and energetic team, striving to ensure the efficient running of SMT operations and associated equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
Monitor SMT line performance and implement improvements and corrective actions to ensure maximum quality and output.
Drive the respective Total Preventive Maintenance (TPM) activities
Lead technical investigations regarding product quality and equipment issues
Root cause analysis and countermeasures
Produce SMT placement programs for new products and maintain existing ones to achieve best quality, line balance and program optimisation.
Support the NPI process, being the custodian for all SMT processes and feedback issues and suggestions for improvement to the Design Engineers.
Support new equipment installation
Maintenance of Production equipment using a computerised system for reactive, predictive, and planned work.
Person Specification:
Essential criteria
Experience of maintaining sophisticated computer controlled automation.
Electrical, Mechanical and Pneumatic Engineering maintenance experience.
Analytical thinker with creative and flexible approach to problem-solving
Ability to work in a team as well as on your own.
Strong communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail
Able to work under pressure and deliver results to fixed milestones
Demonstrate a can-do attitude, with a willingness to develop own knowledge and skills and drive initiatives.
Desirable criteria
Proficiency in Outlook, Excel and Word would be beneficial
Previous experience with SMT Software, particularly for Yamaha/Hitachi, DEK and BTU would be advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
Understanding / experience with Automated Optical and Solder Paste Inspection (AOI &SPI) Software, particularly for Koh Young would be advantageous but not essential as training will also be provided
Good aptitude for complex and technical operations
An understanding of the SMT process, equipment, and technology

We are based in Derby, easily commutable from the Derby area, Nottingham, Mansfield, Burton, Loughborough, Ashbourne and the Peak District and East Staffordshire.
