Electronics Development Technician

Brief Description

Pektron Group Ltd is searching for an Electronics Development Technician to support our busy engineering and production departments

Our mission is to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations in the design of bespoke electronic solutions. From capturing customer requirements, designing electronic circuits at schematic and PCB level, the creation of embedded product software and the design of mechanical enclosures to house the electronics, through to design verification, validation test and ultimately high volume manufacture in our Derby technology campus.

About you:

You will have an interest in electronics / electrical engineering or be a recent electronics graduate. The role will suit a practical, hands on person, keen to solve problems and use your initiative to find solutions. You will enjoy working collaboratively in cross functional teams and be comfortable working to tight deadlines. You will need to be diplomatic, have good interpersonal skills, be motivated and well organised with good timekeeping and be willing to work overtime.

You will have knowledge/experience of the following:

Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows Operating systems.

Ability to install Operating Systems and software and to build P.C’s from parts.

Ability to fault find, repair and upgrade P.C’s.

Microsoft Excel, Access, Outlook.

Basic understanding of software programming.

Read and understand circuit schematics and PCB layouts.

Electrical and electronic fault finding.

Proficient with test equipment such as Digital multi meters, logic analysers, Oscilloscopes and with hand and power tools.

Fabrication skills.

Rapid prototyping experience (3D printing, routing etc).

Knowledge of Health and Safety best practices.

Circuit board assembly and soldering.

Basic SMT rework.

Harnessing and crimping.

Your tasks will include:

Construction of support equipment / boards to aid engineers in product development and testing.

Construction of production test equipment

Support production test equipment break-downs, repairs and maintenance.

Construction of validation test equipment

Support validation test equipment break-downs and repairs.

ATE repair and maintenance.

Product validation testing support when necessary to ensure that deadlines are met.

Location:

We are based in Alfreton Road in Derby, easily commutable from the Derby area, Nottingham, Mansfield, Burton, Loughborough, Ashbourne and the Peak District and East Staffordshire.

We have 5 modern, purpose built buildings at our Derby site including state of the art manufacturing facilities and are in the process of building a purpose built Engineering centre to house our Engineering team. Our facilities have been recognised as being one of the most modern and well-equipped electronics design, development and manufacturing plants in Europe.
