Undergraduate Placements

Pektron is a well established electronics design and manufacturing company that is constantly expanding and has an experienced electronics engineering team.  We are looking for the next generation of talent to share our passion for electronics, new technology and drive to innovate and have a number of opportunities for undergraduates to come and join us on one of our Electronics Engineering work placement programmes:

Electronics Design (hardware)

You will be introduced to the hardware development processes used at Pektron to develop solutions for our customers, with the opportunity to provide input into the PCB design and layout for current live projects.

Embedded Software

You will have the opportunity to provide input to the design, implementation and testing of embedded and application software programmes in a real world engineering environment, working alongside an extensive software development team.

Mechanical Design

You will be working with our mechanical design team working on projects that bring our electronics engineers designs to life and turn them into reality for our customers.

All placement students will be mentored by an experienced engineer who will provide day to day guidance and on the job training.  You will be introduced to formal development processes used to take real life challenges and translate them into workable solutions for our customers.

Excellence runs throughout our entire business, and we expect you to be the same. We are looking for undergraduates on track to secure a degree from a range of relevant disciplines that might include: systems engineering, electrical engineering, electronic and communications engineering, mechanical engineering, integrated mechanical and electrical engineering, computer science or software engineering, at 2:1 level or higher.  And you’ll need drive, creativity, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to delivering results.

Our undergraduate placement opportunities are only open to penultimate year students (i.e. students who will be returning to their final year of study following their placement with us).

All our undergraduate programmes run for 10 months from September to June and provide real-world experience with the ability to work on live projects.  You will be able to apply the skills you have learned so far at university and grow your understanding of how they can be applied in a business environment.  As well as developing your electrical engineering skills, you will learn about the wider business and how engineering fits within the Design and Manufacturing process, with access to our Quality, Test & Validation, Customer Services, Purchasing & Sales teams.  As an Enterprise Partner with the IET we are invested in the training and development of our future engineers, and view these schemes as a springboard for potential longer term careers within Pektron.

We are currently recruiting for our 2023/2024, to register your interest and apply, please email your latest CV to Jane Keighron at jkeighron@pektron.co.uk.
